Stripe equips French companies to compete globally in an AI-driven economy
PARIS—As Stripe celebrates 10 years in France, the company today shared new tools designed to help French businesses compete globally and capitalize on the shift to AI commerce. Stripe now supports nearly 800,000 businesses and solopreneurs in France, including half of the CAC 40, two thirds of French unicorns, and a growing cohort of AI-native companies including Mistral, Hugging Face and Nabla, alongside enterprises like La Redoute, Accor, and TF1.
In 2025, one in three customers of French businesses on Stripe came from outside France. These businesses now generate 22% of their revenue from international markets, up from 16% in 2020, reflecting the global reach Stripe unlocks. Today's announcements go further, giving French businesses new ways to reach international customers, monetize AI products, and turn platforms into full financial ecosystems.
Commerce in the age of AI
France is one of Europe's leading AI hubs, and Stripe is building the payments and billing infrastructure that the latest generation of AI companies, including new customers Gradium and H Company, rely on to grow.
AI companies can now meter token consumption and charge customers for their exact usage in real time with Metronome, integrated into Stripe Billing. And Stripe Radar now defends against token theft, with protection against multi-account abuse, free trial fraud, and pay-as-you-go abuse.
AI-powered growth isn’t limited to AI companies. Beginning later this year, French businesses will be able to make their products discoverable and purchasable across AI agents through a single integration with Stripe’s Agentic Commerce Suite.
Selling globally from France
Stripe Managed Payments is now generally available, enabling French businesses to expand into 195 markets without setting up local entities. Stripe acts as the merchant of record, handling local tax, compliance, and payment infrastructure. Social discovery app Yubo has recently introduced it to accept payments from overseas.
For companies selling across different currencies, Adaptive Pricing automatically localises prices at checkout.
Powering France's platform economy
More than 1,800 software platforms in France are building on Stripe. Today Stripe shared three new tools to help platforms offer financial services directly to their customers:
Treasury for Platforms: Platforms can now provide their customers with a business account that lets them hold, convert, and move money across currencies with instant transfers and access to Stripe's 160-country payout network.
Capital for Platforms: Platforms can now extend financing directly to their customers—no bank partnership required.
Platform growth studio: Platforms on Stripe now get personalised growth recommendations benchmarked against thousands of Stripe platforms.
Stripe also announced that Libération, the French daily newspaper, is powering its subscription management with Stripe Billing, using Smart Retries to combat churn and maximize revenue recovery.
Stripe’s country lead in France Laurent Curny said: "AI is rewriting how products are priced, discovered, and purchased all at once. Every business, from frontier AI labs to century-old brands, faces the same question: do you have the infrastructure to compete in what comes next?"
These updates were shared at Stripe Tour Paris, the company's annual internet economy conference in France.
