OUSD is now the default stablecoin on Stripe
Today, support for Open USD (OUSD) launches across Stripe products. OUSD is a new stablecoin from Open Standard that is designed for global money movement at scale and enables any business to transact and build with internet-native payment rails.
Businesses can now use OUSD to receive, hold, send, and spend funds with Treasury; build and operate a global card program with Issuing; and pay recipients globally with Global Payouts. Businesses can also offer fiat-to-OUSD conversions to their customers with Crypto Onramp and accept OUSD with Payments.
As we roll out additional support for OUSD, we will continue to make it available by default across Stripe products.
Create powerful global financial products with OUSD on Stripe
For fintechs, institutions, and global businesses building financial services at scale, OUSD is now integrated across Stripe’s stablecoin stack. It delivers the speed and utility businesses expect from a stablecoin, with low transaction fees that stay predictable even as volumes increase, and no minting or burning fees. OUSD’s benefits extend beyond costs and performance. While most businesses don’t earn rewards on stablecoin activity, businesses that join Open Standard as a partner can earn rewards based on OUSD activity—including their OUSD balances on Stripe—creating greater value as their usage increases. Businesses can join at no cost.
OUSD can also be used with Bridge and Privy. Using Bridge orchestration APIs allows businesses to easily convert between OUSD and both fiat and other stablecoins, while using Privy allows them to support OUSD in any digital wallet experience. Businesses have the flexibility to plug in these components as needed, or to use the entire stack to build powerful global financial services without stitching together separate providers for each part of the transaction flow. Finance platform Ramp will soon use Stripe to power stablecoin accounts that let users hold OUSD balances, earn rewards, and make payments anywhere in the world 24/7 with OUSD.
While OUSD on Tempo is now Stripe’s default stablecoin configuration, we continue to offer flexibility to choose the stablecoin and blockchain whose costs, settlement speed, and infrastructure best suit their product needs. OUSD is available on Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo. Stripe supports several alternative stablecoins across blockchains, and won’t require Stripe users to convert their existing stablecoin balances to OUSD.
OUSD launches with the support and distribution of Open Standard’s founding companies, including Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa, and more than 200 network partners.
