SAN FRANCISCO—Stripe, a global technology company building economic infrastructure for the internet, today announced that Mike Clayville is joining the business as Chief Revenue Officer. A 36-year sales veteran of AWS, VMware and BEA Systems, Mike will be charged with leading and growing Stripe’s global sales organization as the company enters its next phase of growth. As the world economy shifts online and enterprises pivot with alacrity to internet commerce, Mike will scale Stripe to enable more startups and empower enterprises, and anticipate the technology they need to thrive.

Under Mike’s leadership, AWS grew to $43 billion in annual revenue as the market leader in cloud services for startups and enterprises globally. He built AWS’s customer base to millions of businesses in over 170 countries, helping startups and Fortune 500 companies alike create new revenue streams, improve operational efficiency and reduce business risk. Outside of work, Mike is passionate about cancer research and serves as a board member of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Mike joins Stripe at a time when its rapidly expanding customer base is adapting to the new economy of 2020. Instagram is tapping Stripe for a new way to fundraise for personal causes; Notarize launched a platform on Stripe to keep notaries working remotely; and Zoom switched to Stripe to enable remote working for hundreds of millions of people.
