UK Public Sector Lead

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe is building economic infrastructure for the internet. We help organizations of every size move money, manage revenue, and build global financial services.

The Public Sector team builds Stripe’s presence in markets where organizations deliver essential services to millions of people. In the UK, public sector organizations collect taxes and tuition, enable transit, distribute funds, support charitable giving, and modernize citizen services. The team helps these organizations improve how they collect, manage, and disburse funds.

What you’ll do

As the UK Public Sector Lead, you will build and lead Stripe’s public sector go-to-market motion in the UK. You will define how Stripe serves central government, local government, devolved administrations, public bodies, higher education, utilities, transport, charities and not-for-profit organizations, and adjacent regulated organizations.

You will combine market knowledge, commercial judgment, and operational leadership to build trusted relationships, win meaningful business, and establish the operating model needed to serve public sector customers. This role reports to the Global Head of Public Sector and will help launch Stripe’s UK public sector motion in 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Define Stripe’s UK public sector strategy, including priority segments, customer problems,      routes to market, commercial opportunities, and the capabilities needed to succeed

  • Build relationships across government, public bodies, procurement ecosystems, industry associations, systems integrators, and advisory partners

  • Work with senior customer decision-makers to understand their payment, revenue, digital service, and financial infrastructure needs, and develop solutions with Stripe teams

  • Guide strategic opportunities through public sector procurement, contracting, security, compliance, and stakeholder alignment requirements

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Go-to-Market, Alliances and Channels, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to prepare Stripe to support public sector customers

  • Turn recurring market requirements into priorities for onboarding, risk, contracting, procurement, implementation, support, and product development

  • Build the positioning, account strategy, partner ecosystem, sales plays, internal processes, and success metrics that support growth in the UK and inform Stripe’s global public sector strategy

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Experience working in or selling to the UK public sector, including government, public bodies, education, transport, utilities, charities and not-for-profit organizations, or other regulated institutions

  • Established senior relationships across the UK public sector, its partner ecosystem, and relevant procurement or policy communities

  • Experience delivering complex outcomes across multiple stakeholders and working through public sector procurement, contracting, compliance, risk, and implementation requirements

  • Experience leading senior cross-functional stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, Sales, Partnerships, and Operations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strategic judgment, and experience working directly on market-building initiatives

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience launching a product, organization, market, vertical, or strategic go-to-market motion

  • Experience in payments, financial services, enterprise software, digital transformation, or platform technology

  • Familiarity with UK public procurement frameworks and common contracting vehicles

  • Experience working with systems integrators, consulting firms, implementation partners, or public sector technology ecosystems

  • Experience turning customer and regulatory requirements into scalable products, processes, or commercial models

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is £147,800 - £221,600. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
