About the team

The User Compliance team sits at the critical intersection of Risk, Onboarding, and Stripe's diverse product teams. Our mission is to orchestrate the collection and verification of customer data, enabling us to manage financial, regulatory, and reputational risks across all of Stripe's offerings. As we embark on an ambitious reimagining of our foundational platform constructs, we are committing to powering Stripe’s use cases for the next decade.  Our team thrives on collaboration, engaging with internal stakeholders, external customers, and regulatory partners to create a seamless user experience while minimizing friction. We value cross-functional skill sets and product-driven thinking, as we build robust systems at scale that offer the flexibility necessary to meet all different sizes and shapes of customers.  We’re looking for deeply technical engineering managers with a background in risk or compliance and a passion for scaling distributed systems. What you’ll do

Responsibilities

  • Work with Stripe leaders across the company to create and drive toward the vision of simple and consistent Risk & Compliance experience;
  • Work with Product Managers to shape up the product roadmap and enable the experiences which helps solve user problems and keep them complaint;
  • Drive the roadmap and priorities for your team, and work with cross functional dependencies across the company to meet the deliverables;
  • Own the technical roadmap for the team and support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
  • Hire and develop the best of engineers in your team; Be a sponsor-coach for the team to learn and grow;
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team

  • Have built and managed critical systems working with cross functional teams globally; Any experience in RIsk and compliance domain is a plus;
  • Have built and grown teams comprising of high talent individuals; Great people manager with proven track track record to build self driven and highly efficient teams;  
  • Thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility; 
  • Are curious. You enjoy learning and diving into the nuts-and-bolts of how things work – in this role, you’ll learn a ton about global money movement rails, currency conversion, inter-company flows, finance and accounting and more
  • Are humble. It’s important to continue to learn and grow as an individual, engineer, and leader

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience with minimum 10 years of experience with software development
  • 8-10 years of overall experience with 3+ years experience in leadership role with people management responsibilities as well;
  • Built diverse teams to tackle challenging technical problems;
  • Thrived in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts

 

 

Working remotely at Stripe

A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently live or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $214,600 - $321,800. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
