What you’ll do

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripes engineering teams using Ruby, Scala, and Go; Build software infrastructure, including developing, testing, and deploying it; Design and develop software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design; Engineer payments integration with various financial partners software systems; Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation; Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack; Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints; Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale; Build new systems to securely store sensitive data; Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, plus 2 years of Software Engineering experience.

Position also requires the following:

2 years of experience working with Ruby, React, Typescript and AWS;
2 years of experience implementing industry standard design patterns;
2 years of software engineering experience building full-stack web applications at scale;
2 years of experience building frontend Javascript web applications;
2 years of experience designing backend systems and optimizing/tuning for performance and latency;
2 years of experience with database management in MongoDB;
2 years of experience using SQL, Presto and related query languages to perform data analysis;
2 years of experience designing intuitive APIs for users; and
1 year of experience testing and building reliable systems for payment processing.

Salary: $156,800 - $235,200/yr.

This salary range represents the base salary range for the role and any sales commissions/ sales bonuses targets, if applicable, would be in addition to the base salary.

40 hrs/week

Up to 50% telework permitted.

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.
