The Capital Markets team within Treasury-Finance supports Stripe’s mission by creating and leveraging efficient access to capital and financial markets. We source capital by developing and then executing the strategy for corporate and product-related financing transactions; we also manage liquidity investments and mitigate interest rate and foreign exchange (FX) risk by developing and implementing risk-management strategies. 

 

What You’ll Do

Stripe conducts business globally and our users demand sophisticated FX capabilities, driving rapid growth in FX products and volumes and increasing Stripe’s FX risk exposure. At the moment, Stripe accepts payments in over 135+ currencies. As a result, Stripe needs to support an increasingly complex, real-time FX platform. 

We’re looking for someone who will help us uplevel our FX platform. You will design, build and scale our FX risk management capabilities. Your experience, insights and innovative thinking will elevate our ambitions. In this capacity, you will work closely with Data Science, Product and Engineering teams to enable the growth of Stripe’s FX business, while working with finance and risk teams to monitor and manage the impact of FX fluctuations on our results. 

As an FX Specialist, you understand the big picture and are not afraid of tackling the foundations. You are a strategic and balanced risk thinker, who is excited to build and collaborate with others. 

 

You will

  • Manage FX exposure monitoring and trading 
  • Develop and manage FX-related policies and procedures   
  • Support the development of a robust and scalable FX management program, including the infrastructure buildout to manage risk exposures via multiple liquidity providers  
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to guide product design and buildout of systems to manage FX exposures, trade execution, and liquidity optimization
  • Help develop risk-based FX pricing methodology across different products and currency pairs, that accounts for transaction costs, volatility, netting efficiency, etc. 
  • Support observability of FX fluctuations impact on Stripe’s financial statements; design and implement hedging strategies to mitigate corporate FX risk
  • Leverage large data sets (via SQL) to drive risk observability and insights
  • Support as needed other Capital Markets projects and initiatives

Who You Are

You must meet the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant FX risk management experience, with strong knowledge of FX market infrastructure and risk models 
  • Strong data-orientation: you are skilled at working with and synthesizing extremely large and complex data sets to generate actionable insight. You employ data modeling and visualization tools to support your analysis.
  • Understanding of macroeconomic trends and how they impact markets
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to leverage data insights into a dynamic narrative 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with high attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
  • Experience managing interest rate risk
  • In addition to SQL, you might have experience with data modeling and statistical programming languages

Hybrid work at Stripe

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $155,200 - $232,800. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
