The Document Databases group owns the bedrock of Stripe: our flagship, general-purpose, online transactional storage layer. We don't just "run" databases; we build a Platform-as-a-Product that abstracts the complexity of persistence for thousands of Stripe engineers.
As the Head of this organization, you will lead a globally distributed team of 50–60 engineers and managers responsible for a system serving millions of requests per second (RPS) with 99.999%+ availability. Your mandate is to evolve this infrastructure from managed clusters into a fully autonomous, self-service, globally-distributed Database-as-a-Service.
As a Manager of Managers, you are expected to see problems others don't and rally people to independently create solutions. You will move beyond day-to-day management to act as an industry leader, effectively advocating for your organization's mission, values, and impact.
We are looking for a visionary leader who thrives on operating Tier0 infrastructure and building world-class teams. You should be equally comfortable in high-level strategic conversations and deep-diving into database internals.
In-Office: Stripe is a "Live" culture. You will be expected to spend at least 50% of your time in your local hub to foster high-bandwidth, in-person collaboration.
The annual US base salary range for this role is $280,000 - $420,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
