International Tax Provision & Compliance Specialist

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

In this role, you will be joining the taxsquad’s Corporate Income Tax & Reporting team. As technology evolves, so do our tax reporting and compliance obligations, especially with the multitude of US and International tax provisions impacting US multinational corporations. Our tax team completes the global income tax provision, US income tax returns and works with Stripes around the globe to ensure not only that our tax obligations are met but that we assist in inventing products that our users find useful.

What you’ll do

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Income Tax Reporting & Compliance Specialist to support Stripe’s reporting and compliance function. You will assist in preparing the worldwide income tax provision and US international tax compliance. You will work for a rapidly growing company in a fast-paced environment, while collaborating with numerous functional teams across our organization. You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to explain tax technical concepts and requirements in a simplified fashion to non-tax people.

While the broader tax team is based in Seattle and San Francisco, this position can be based remotely or in either location.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the quarterly and annual preparation of ASC 740 income tax provision for international subsidiaries, including the company’s tax related financial statement disclosures, and documenting uncertain tax positions.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of US tax compliance related to foreign operations, including 5471s, 8858s, and 1120Fs. Review and monitor foreign tax credit, Subpart F, GILTI, Section 956 inclusion and related compliance matters and work with the international tax and planning team to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist in the implementation and modeling of Pillar II.
  • Provide support to regional teams in tax audits to resolve tax issues.
  • Support the evolution of the tax reporting function, tax technology tools, and technological enhancements.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant tax experience working at an accounting firm or multi-national company
  • Knowledgeable of international tax laws and principles, including core international tax concepts of income sourcing, expense apportionment & allocation, E&P, foreign tax credit, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Section 956, and Subpart F
  • A strong background in US income tax compliance and ASC 740 income tax accounting of international operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to research and communicate complex technical tax issues clearly to non-tax team members and work effectively across functional teams
  • Exhibit strong analytical thinking, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent prioritization and organizational skills
  •

Preferred qualifications

  • An advanced degree or professional qualification in tax, accounting, or law (CPA, JD or Master’s degree).
  • Experience working in a high-growth, rapidly scaling environment.
  • Industry experience at a multinational organization; experience working in technology, payments, or financial services is a plus
  • Practical experience with tax provision software such as Oracle TRCS.
  • A willingness to work with a diverse crew of tax nerds who care deeply about Stripe’s tax issues and each other.

Hybrid work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $121,400 - $182,200. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
