About the team

What you’ll do

We are looking for someone to join our Corporate Accounting team, to distill the scale and complexity of Stripe’s operations into clear and insightful financial reporting, as well as work cross collaboratively to ensure successful and thoughtful accounting integration. 

Quick and accurate close and reporting processes are foundational to our understanding of business performance. You will play an integral role in shaping the evolution of our close and reporting programs, and will be responsible for certain financial reporting activities, including preparing financial reporting deliverables for management and external stakeholders (such as financial statements, disclosures, and presentations), and advising on accounting and reporting requirements with reference to authoritative guidance. 

This person would also be expected to coordinate integration activities with respect to monthly consolidation, policy alignment as well as longer term strategic integration coordination among existing Stripe teams and processes, in addition to helping with accounting for business combinations including coordination and review of externally prepared valuation reports. This person would also be responsible for the accurate accounting for Stripe’s strategic investments, including assisting with determining the appropriate accounting framework and assessing ongoing mark to market and impairment recommendations. This role will be based in San Francisco or Seattle. 

Responsibilities

  • Shape the evolution of our financial close and reporting programs by implementing leading practices, efficiency opportunities, and internal controls
  • Scope and lead complex, cross functional projects and process improvements spanning multiple teams to find long term and scalable solutions which effectively integrate into Stripe’s systems and processes
  • Prepare financial reporting deliverables for management and external stakeholders (such as financial statements, disclosures, and presentations)
  • Be the directly responsible individual ensuring timely and accurate reporting of unintegrated subsidiaries/businesses, and strategic investments
  • Communicate and influence unintegrated teams to align with Stripe policies, procedures, and norms
  • Partner with Tax, Corporate Development, Corporate Legal,  Finance & Strategy, and external service providers for diligence or third party valuations
  • Participate in building scalable accounting processes to support global growth
  • Serve as a corporate controllership/oversight function over subsidiaries until they are integrated into the broader Stripe teams/systems. 

Who you are

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of experience (a mix of public accounting experience and prior experience in an industry operational role preferred, but not required)
  • Expertise in U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements (CPA required)

  • Detail-oriented and rigorous approach to delivering high-quality work
  • Enthusiasm to get things done through a combination of hands on execution and leading others
  • Experience proactively managing projects spanning multiple teams end-to-end   
  • Structured, solutions-oriented response to problem statements
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to distill complexity
  • Ability to influence across diverse groups and levels
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions
  • Experience with Oracle Financials Cloud

Hybrid work at Stripe

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $126,600 - $189,800. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
