Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Globalization Platform team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Stripe products are accessible and user-friendly for customers worldwide. This team is responsible for creating and maintaining the infrastructure required to localize our products and services across various languages and cultures. By joining this team, you will contribute to providing a seamless experience for users across the globe and help expand Stripe’s global impact.

What you’ll do

You will have the responsibility of defining, leading, and owning the platform for software internationalization at scale, including its user experience, and driving widespread adoption among the engineering teams. The primary objective of this platform is to bring forth substantial enhancements in the quality, speed, and cost-efficiency of localization processes.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build a comprehensive globalization infrastructure capable of supporting diverse clients, including services, UIs, and written communications. Ensure deep integration with CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous localization.
  • Enable seamless integration with external providers, such as translation management services, to streamline localization workflows.
  • Implement quality assurance mechanisms and robust processes to deliver an exceptional user experience, including regular assessments of platform efficiency.
  • Explore cutting-edge technologies, like AI/ML-based translations, to optimize localization turn-around time and cost-effectiveness.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition from the existing infrastructure to the new platform, minimizing disruptions and maintaining operational continuity.

Who you are

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in globalization/localization. As the architect for our new generation globalization platform, we expect you to bring extensive experience that will serve as a solid foundation for our team.

Minimum requirements

  • Residence in Barcelona.
  • Have 10+ years of backend engineering experience building services using programming languages such as Java, Ruby, or Go.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing infrastructure solutions for localization in a global software environment.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and hands-on experience integrating localization processes within them.
  • Familiarity with external translation management systems and the ability to work with their APIs.
  • In-depth knowledge of localization tools and technologies, including translation memory systems and terminology management tools.
  • Have a strong product sense and put strong emphasis on product quality. The big picture of what a great native experience is lies in Globalization Platform’s hands so we need to maintain a high bar.
  • Enjoy working with others and the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Served as the technical lead and defined the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions.
  • Proficiency in either Java or Ruby.
  • Experience leading other engineers is a plus.

Working remotely at Stripe

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €103,000 - €154,600. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
