About the team

Collaborating closely with our Engineering, Product, and Operations teams, this team serves as a trusted advisor, driving favorable risk outcomes across all stages, from product development and user onboarding to strategic business decisions.

What you’ll do

This role is focused on users from the Greater China region who aim to expand globally and export to the rest of the world. An understanding of and desire to serve Chinese high growth merchants is essential. This is a new position which will require a builder mindset to work closely with partner teams across Stripe to deliver for these users. We are looking for a Risk Manager who is passionate about solving complex problems to advance the payments landscape, especially in support of our users’ ambitious and innovative business models. This role will help to build out a function that enables Stripe to understand and best serve users exporting out of Greater China. It will work closely with the global Risk team, and our APAC teams including Go to Market, Legal and Enterprise Risk and Compliance teams.  

Responsibilities 

  • Be a well-rounded Risk leader - Act as the Risk Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Stripe’s Greater China business, identifying risk trends and translating them into scalable solutions.
  • Develop a long-term risk programme that supports and builds products for users from Greater China.
  • Be accountable for users, partners, regulators, and Stripe’s business performance in the region by collaborating with many stakeholder and partner teams across the company.
  • Be an evangelist for your users across the company.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in first line Risk Management.
  • Experience in the payments industry especially or other fintech domains. 
  • Mandarin language fluency  and experience working with companies in Greater China.
  • Act as the Risk Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Stripe’s Greater China business, identifying risk trends and translating them into scalable solutions.
  • Develop a programme for supporting users by collaborating across engineering, group risk teams, enterprise risk & compliance, financial crimes and other key stakeholders
  • Provide unique insights to guide product strategy by monitoring risk trends across various areas.
  • Communicate risk-related updates and strategies to the broader Risk organization.
  • Work with Product, Engineering and Data Science to develop metrics and improve risk observability.
  • Analyze data to identify emerging trends and inform decision-making.
  • Stay updated on industry trends through engagement and research, particularly focusing on Greater China.
  • Execute special projects and analyses as needed in response to evolving initiatives, risks and opportunities.

Hybrid work at Stripe

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is S$176,000 - S$264,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
