About the team

The Payment Methods Experience Platform team at Stripe is all about making payments simpler and more efficient. We build platforms that make it easy to add various payment methods to all Stripe products. But our work doesn't stop there. We also focus on improving the experience for our payment method partners, providing them with the tools they need to grow and succeed on Stripe. Our goal is to improve efficiencies across the board, paving the way for Stripe's quick expansion by supporting a wide range of local payment methods. This means Stripe users can reach more customers around the world, offering them the ability to make payments in the way they prefer. We're not just building platforms - we're making global commerce more accessible for everyone.

What you’ll do

As a full stack engineer working on Payment Method Experience platform, you’ll join a fast-moving team designing and building user-facing APIs, products and platforms with a focus on high availability, low latency and great user experience. You’ll work with experienced engineers, product, design, and data science to deliver world-class solutions to end-users problems. Our team places a heavy emphasis on designing APIs and end to end systems, iterating rapidly on features, and working closely with our users.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a wide range of systems, processes and technologies to own and solve problems from end-to-end.
  • Craft new products and features that impact millions of people and businesses around the world
  • Explore creative opportunities for next-gen payments experiences that leverage the depth of Stripe’s payment technology.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization such as product, design, infrastructure, marketing, and operations.
  • Develop and execute against both short- and long-term roadmaps. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
  • Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 3+ years of full stack/backend software development experience.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and acting as a leader more broadly—leading by example and delivering critical feedback to uphold a high quality bar.
  • Are motivated by solving hard problems, and measure your success in terms of impact.
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale.
  • Appreciation for the importance of good documentation -- internal and external.
  • Experience with backend technologies and building scalable, reliable, low latency systems.
  • Experience with modern frontend technologies (HTML/CSS/TypeScript/React) and building delightful user interfaces
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Have experience gathering and using data to analyze user behavior/intent to inform future product decisions.
  • Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems.
  • Can put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great experiences.

Working remotely at Stripe

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $150,500 - $225,700. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
