About the team

The Reconciliation Platform team plays a critical role in Stripe's payment processing system, which handles hundreds of billions of dollars in card payments annually. Our team owns the post-transaction system responsible for reconciling money, tracing the end-to-end flow of funds, and ensuring Stripe can close its books and meet financial obligations to merchants and partners.

Reconciliation is essential for running a payment business, and given Stripe's significant transaction volume, engineers on our team have the opportunity to:

• Build the next generation Reconciliation platform that integrates global card network reports with internal payment data for settlement, dispute, and cost processes.
  
• Leverage advanced data engineering skills to handle complex financial data at scale.
  
• Develop tooling suites that provide end-to-end traceability of money throughout the entire Stripe system.
  

What you’ll do:

You will have an opportunity to play a hands-on role in significantly advancing our current platforms to be significantly more efficient and resilient:

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data interfaces across Stripe’s engineering teams
  
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
  
• Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale
  
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience
  
• Either a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field involving coding (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
  
• Worked on projects which have involved multiple engineering teams
  
• Empathy, strong communication skills and a deep respect for the power of collaboration
  
• A learning mindset, regardless of level or experience
  
• The ability to drive clear next steps when encountering ambiguous spaces without clear lines of ownership
  
• High standards for code quality and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar
  
• An ability to think creatively and holistically about reducing risk in a complex environment
  

Preferred qualifications 

• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines with batch processing  technologies (such as Airflow, Spark etc.)
  
• Experience with financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets.
