Head of Agentic Commerce GTM

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

What you’ll do

Stripe is defining the future of Agentic Commerce — the infrastructure that enables AI agents to discover, transact, and operate autonomously across the internet. In this role, you will be a part of a founding team for a brand-new product surface, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Marketing, and Executive leadership to shape the narrative, validate early use cases, land flagship customers, and build the GTM playbook that scales.

You will be at the forefront of one of the most important shifts in online commerce, helping the world’s most innovative AI companies, marketplaces, and consumer brands adopt Stripe as the financial infrastructure layer for agentic workflows.

Core Responsibilities

Deeply understand the landscape

  • Engage early adopters across AI agents, marketplaces, consumer brands, and developers to understand their needs, blockers, and desired financial capabilities.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of agentic commerce profiles: personal shopping agents, AI-powered marketplaces, consumer brands experimenting with autonomous shopping, and developers embedding spend/hold/receive functionality.

Influence product direction & value proposition

  • Own and continuously refine the Agentic Commerce value proposition and narrative.
  • Act as the connective tissue between customers and the product org; synthesize signals and influence the product roadmap.
  • Partner tightly with engineering + product to shape the product in real time, especially in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments.

Build and execute the go-to-market strategy

  • Develop the end-to-end GTM approach for Agentic Commerce: segmentation, ICPs, prioritization, messaging, sales motions, and playbooks.
  • Build AI-specific sales plays, frameworks, and enablement content in partnership with Product Marketing.

Drive revenue & close flagship deals

  • Personally lead and close the biggest, highest-impact deals (“the whales”), with strong executive presence and the ability to influence C-suite stakeholders at major brands.
  • Navigate complex deal cycles, collaborating with our executive team (eg Eileen O'Mara Will Gaybrick) to structure terms, unblock decisions, and accelerate timelines.

Be the voice of Agentic Commerce

  • Represent Stripe publicly and internally at EBCs, Sessions, Tours, industry events — and help cement Stripe as the leader in this emerging category.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to create educational materials, enablement resources, and external content.

Build and lead a world-class team

  • Manage an initial team of 3–5 senior BDMs spanning merchants and AI agents, with scope to grow.
  • Provide mentorship, leadership, and clear direction in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Who you are

You thrive in zero-to-one environments, know how to turn ambiguity into clarity, and can operate seamlessly across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales. You’re as comfortable in a technical deep-dive as you are influencing a customer’s C-suite — and you know how to transform early signals into scalable playbooks.

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in leadership roles within business development, partnerships, sales, product strategy, or related GTM roles in technology or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of the AI landscape, including LLMs, AI agents, and agentic workflows.
  • Experience in enterprise sales or business development with top tier brands.
  • Familiarity with payments infrastructure, financial services APIs, and usage-based billing.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify new opportunities, shape narratives, and build trusted relationships with customers.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • * Experience in zero-to-one product environments or early GTM teams.
    • Strong product sense and ability to translate customer needs into product direction.
    • Experience selling to or partnering with C-suite executives at enterprise companies.
    • Track record of designing or scaling new GTM motions.
    • Background in financial technology, commerce infrastructure, or AI platform companies.

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $380,600 - $571,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
