About The Team

We are the Financial Business Insights India team focused on supporting critical financial related functions across the organization. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality insights and solutions that drive informed decision-making and contribute to the company's overall financial success. By facilitating the data for month-end financial close process, we ensure accuracy and timeliness in reporting, powering multiple data related applications which help in deal renewals management reporting, along with providing foundational capabilities to the Finance & Strategy (F&S) team which does comprehensive planning, forecasting, and reporting activities. 

What you’ll do

As a Financial Business Insights engineer, you will play a key role in building data pipelines which powers generating corporate financial statements and guaranteeing meticulous reporting accuracy. You will collaborate with the Finance & Strategy team to understand data requirements for detailed planning, forecasting, and reporting activities and execute on them. Your meticulous execution will be essential in providing quality data, ensuring timeliness, freshness and reliability of datasets across the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and refine requirements for data needed by partner teams and downstream applications 
  • Utilize advanced technologies, including Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Scala, Iceberg etc to process and analyze all Stripe transactions, establishing a reliable source of truth for money movement across the organization.
  • Ensure the reliability of data through rigorous validations and quality checks.
  • Conduct cost analysis and considerations in financial processes to optimize resource allocation and enhance overall financial performance.

Who you are

We are looking for software engineers who meet the minimum requirements for this role.While preferred qualifications are a plus, they are not essential. We value individuals who are passionate about simplifying complexity to address real-world business challenges.

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in delivering, extending, and maintaining large scale distributed systems.
  • Think about systems, services, and platforms, and write high quality code. We work mostly in Spark, Apache Airflow, Scala. 
  • Design and build integration Pipeline and API services.
  • You enjoy exploring new datasets, understanding the nuances in depth.
  • You possess exceptional product taste and a proven ability to address complex problems with elegant solutions.
  • Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systems.
  • The skills to build holistically – from specs and documentation to implementation, testing, deployment, and measuring impact
  • You are capable of working in ambiguous fast-moving environments and have a curiosity to learn the domain to a deep level.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise.
  • Eager to learn and effective at giving and receiving constructive feedback to/from peer engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with large scale distributed systems.
  • Experience working in high-growth teams similar to Stripe.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for different audiences (leadership, users, stakeholders etc.).
  • Enjoy being a generalist working on both the backend, data technologies and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.
