What you'll do

As a Sales Manager, Enterprise at Stripe, you will play an instrumental role in fuelling Stripe’s growth through both new customer acquisition and customer retention. In this role you will lead a team of high-performing Account Executives on the team, helping them to develop their skills and deliver on their ambitious targets, as well as roll your sleeves up to work directly with customers specifically in technology industries. We are looking for a proactive leader who has demonstrated success dealing with ambiguity, operating in a high-growth environment, managing high-performing teams, turning metrics and quantitative analyses into actionable plans, and solving problems with limited oversight. Ideal candidates should also have experience scaling and managing a technology sales team, and possess first-class strategic, analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Be a role model for the team, demonstrating how to perform in a high growth startup environment.
  • Lead a results-oriented culture while demonstrating humility, resiliency and receptiveness to constructive criticism to find the globally optimal outcome.
  • Develop the short to mid-term vision and strategy to lead the team with clarity and context and manage day-to-day operations, with a focus on performance against key sales and market share metrics.
  • Be accountable for increasing revenue and new client acquisition at high rates of growth, and retaining and upselling to existing portfolios.
  • Drive WBR, MBR and QBR for your team, ensuring integrated charter and metrics across broader organization
  • Inspire, motivate and enable personal and career development of team members, both to promote career growth and to increase impact for Stripe.
  • Recruit, develop and lead a team of sales professionals, with a particular focus on the large user customer segments.
  • Coach and guide the team in developing consultative and solution-based sales skills through all facets of the sales cycle.
  • Play a personal and direct role in building and maintaining enduring customer relationships, up to C-level.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally across the organisation to help shape Stripe’s products and solutions to meet customer needs. In particular, this will involve working across the Japan sales team, as well as global inter-working with US, European and APAC sales.
  • Participate in industry events to help support market awareness.
  • Work with company leaders from multiple functions (e.g., Engineering, Product, and Finance) to lead complex product workshops and financial analyses.
  • Lead and contribute to team projects to develop and refine our sales process.

Who you are

Minimum requirements 

  • 13+ years of sales experience and 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Ability to stimulate a high performing culture with strong humility and respect.
  • Ability to deliver outstanding results with high precision of forecast accuracy, understanding and driving multi-quarter outlook. 
  • Ability to consistently identify problems using data, and to work with cross functional teams to solve them for the team.
  • Ability to work with senior cross functional leads to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Ability to own executive relationships with top customers, prospects and industry thought leaders, resulting in better sales outcomes.
  • Business fluency in Japanese and English
  • Ability to hire, train and coach a high-performance sales team.
  • Demonstrated passion for startups and new technology businesses.
  • Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts, and translate them into industry- or business-relevant terms.
  • Ability to understand complex technical requirements and craft solutions across multiple products
  • Ability to develop and execute account plans spanning multiple business units across complex organizations

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience at a growth stage internet/ software company
  • Experience working in Japan

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is ¥22,639,100 - ¥33,958,700. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
