About the team

The mission of the Corporate Technology organization is to be Stripe’s strategic technology partner. We are focused on increasing business velocity through tooling, services, and infrastructure that enables Stripe to scale and increase the GDP of the internet.

What you’ll do

Stripe’s Corporate Technology team is looking for an experienced and self motivated ITAM/SAM professional to help build our enterprise IT Asset Management practices. This position requires a minimum of 7 years experience in ITAM, Software License Management, IT contracting, asset-based data analytics or combination of these skills. As one of the first ITAM-focused roles in our growing company, a successful candidate will be experienced with developing processes across multiple ITAM disciplines; driving ITAM tool development for both hardware and software initiatives, understanding discovery practices, and helping to build compliance and consumption metrics to help Stripe optimize overall IT costs and achieve the most trustworthy level of lifecycle performance.

You will:

  • Act as a representative of Stripe’s global asset footprint; driving analytics, governance, recommendations, and cost savings opportunities across software, SaaS, cloud, hardware, and infrastructure.
  • Evaluate current intake, request, assignment, and lifecycle management practices across software (primary) and hardware (secondary) to improve asset management visibility, reporting, and awareness globally
  • Liaise with technical teams to understand current license entitlement practices, monitoring, and reharvesting procedures. Act as an advisor to improve utilization and reconciliation, identify products with high savings opportunities and develop a roadmap for long term rollout of software improvement models
  • Develop cost-center level asset strategy and oversee rollout of software renewal catalog for assigned units. Review vendor history and work with technical teams to understand current and future licensing needs, performing analytics across various tools (discovery, financial, contracting, outside portals) as needed to establish license positioning.
  • Assess cost against value for owned products (software and hardware), establishing opportunities for Corporate Technology to optimize investments. Present options in both written and verbal format
  • Develop operational plans for global helpdesk teams and BPO teams to better manage allocation of software and hardware products. Encourage adoption of best practices that represent 100% lifecycle consumption, require regular reporting,  inventory tracking, and improved awareness of lifecycle usage.
  • Assist in building and maintaining tools to support asset management practices, performing internal audits against purchase records and other available documents to determine Stripe’s inventory management capabilities. Develop and roll out corrective actions as necessary.
  • Mentor outsourced sourcing and procurement staff in new processes, controls, and compliance as Stripe develops and matures. Provide expertise in researching licensing models, reviewing negotiation strategy, defining product use rights, and reconciling software normalization to assist sourcing and procurement staff in on-time renewals.
  • Perform analytics including TCO, ROI, and budgetary analysis for key software products and hardware fleets to help Stripe identify areas of improvement, understand owned assets, limit over/under purchasing and avoid duplications in product.
  • Research and review license reports from internal teams and meet with technical leads to determine license position details. Speak clearly with business units about previous contract types, licenses schemes, deadlines, savings opportunities and cost overruns.
  • Be open to coordinating various levels of Sourcing and Procurement tasks, from simple to highly complex, if those tasks can improve Stripe’s bottom line and result in reportable cost savings, cost avoidance, and risk reduction.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role.  Candidates should have 7+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management or a combination of both.  Experience and willingness to assist with IT vendor negotiations, vendor management, IT contract coordination, and/or IT purchasing in a global environment is a plus. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in asset management, ideally with an emphasis in Software Asset Management and Software License Analytics. Experience in hardware inventory management a plus
  • 3+ years experience in managing complex software renewal engagements, and long term management of value added resellers
  • Demonstrated experience in building ITAM tools and analyzing inventories for compliance, business metrics, and optimization purposes
  • Strong executive communication skills: exceptional writing skills. Effective communication in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to define metrics for success, track KPIs towards those metrics and experience analyzing and proposing data-driven solutions. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs
  • You're a self-starter who loves to own things from start to completion. You make things happen and don't need to ask for permission first.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of planning with sound business recommendations, and generate alignment with key business partners
  • Forward-thinking strategist with proven success in translating strategy to tactical plans with high-quality execution and delivery.
  • A healthy skepticism for the status quo and an unwillingness to settle.

Preferred qualifications

  • * PMP / ITIL Foundations V3 or V4 certification
    • Asset Management certifications such as CHAMP, CAMP, CSAM
    • Lean IT Six-Sigma Certifications
