Content Marketing Manager, Events & Editorial

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Narrative and Editorial is a global team of capable, friendly, customer-oriented marketers, partnering closely with domain experts throughout the organization to create compelling stories that bring insights and solutions to our users.

  • Our Narrative and Editorial team sits within Product Marketing and comprises Editorial Content, Content Production, Copywriting, Customer Marketing, and User Journeys PMM. Our team is responsible for defining and telling the Stripe story, and maintaining our quality bar across all written content.
  • Ours is a highly cross-functional team of generalists, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, Sales, Design, Developer Relations, and Communications to name a few.

What you’ll do

  • We’re looking for a customer-obsessed marketer with strong writing chops to craft content that helps Stripe users understand our products and solutions, and the value they provide to our users.
  • You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to define and communicate the Stripe story, helping to develop, outline, draft, and edit content of multiple kinds: scripted talks for Stripe Sessions, our annual user conference; blog posts; data-led reports on industry trends; and more.
  • The right candidate will bring creative thinking and deep customer empathy to develop technically precise and insight-rich content that drives business outcomes.
  • If this sounds like a challenge you’re excited about, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Understand our customers within our target segments (including by talking regularly with current and prospective customers), and ensure our narratives and content are addressing their concerns, use cases, and priorities
  • Develop and execute on content strategy for Sessions, our annual user conference, including by serving as editorial director and project manager for scripted breakout sessions
  • Work with customers, partners, and the broader Stripe community to develop third-party content across a mix of formats and channels (Sessions talks, guest-authored blog posts, etc)
  • Work closely with a range of cross-functional teams—product, sales, design, UX research, other marketers—to develop compelling narratives and content that best represent Stripe’s value to our users
  • Write compellingly, across everything from internal docs to customer-facing copy. This is a writing-intensive role, and the bar for your writing is high: you’ll write crisp, vivid prose, with confident control over voice and tone
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the content you develop, and provide insights and recommendations for improving it over time

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

  • Customer oriented. You ground what you do in first-hand customer understanding. You do research, talk to users, and use these insights to inform both your own work and that of cross-functional partners
  • A team player. This role will partner with stakeholders across the Marketing team, and with nearly every team at Stripe. You are able to work with a range of disciplines to execute on your work, and synthesize across diverse perspectives and inputs
  • Strategic. You combine empirical analysis with creativity and can navigate through ambiguity, aligning other stakeholders to a common vision and course of action
  • Organized. You are able to manage highly interdependent, complex projects and keep multiple parallel workstreams on track. You can be trusted to get things done, move fast, and optimize for iterating based on lessons learned at every step
  • Ambitious. You are eager to make an impact at Stripe. You thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic and are able to operate fluidly between the 30,000-foot strategy level and the micro-detail to get things right
  • Intellectually curious. You are keen to learn about how things work, and can explain technical concepts in ways that everyday people can understand
  • Tasteful, with an ear for voice and tone. You have deep empathy for our users, from busy CEOs to discerning developers, and can fine-tune messaging and content to resonate with a given audience
  • Well-rounded. This role will require strong writing ability, weedsy technical product knowledge, and empirical judgment

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience that can span marketing, product marketing, content marketing, journalism, and other roles that combine technical aptitude with writing craft
  • Experience working in B2B settings and with sales teams
  • Experience creating content for corporate events and/or writing scripted talks

Preferred qualifications

  •  Experience in fintech or payments

Hybrid work at Stripe

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $154,200 - $231,400. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
