One of the key drivers to our success is a committed and rigorous emphasis on our people. We believe that our competitive advantage lies in our talent and that we can build a sustainable advantage by attracting, enabling and cultivating the world’s most exceptional people to do the very best work of their careers.

Stripe is looking for a People Specialist to join our global team. This role is a regional support role based in EMEA. People Specialists enable and support managers at Stripe to build and lead successful teams. People Specialists leverage policies, research, insights, and cross-functional partnerships (such as with legal counsel or Employee Relations) in order to coach managers and enable meaningful, fair, effective, and compliant experiences for Stripes. The regional People Specialist role has a heightened focus on performance management across the company.

What you’ll do

As a People Specialist, you’ll help make Stripe a great place to work and grow. You’ll partner with, coach, enable and advise Stripe’s people managers on all things people-related: performance management and coaching, career development, employee relations, leveling, manager effectiveness, career development, navigating change, and more. This is a dynamic role that collaborates with Stripes across all levels, functions, and geographies and is a great opportunity to have an outsized impact on the culture of a fast-moving, scaling, global tech company.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with, coach, enable and advise Stripe’s people managers on all things people-related: performance management and coaching, career development, employee relations, leveling, manager effectiveness, career development, navigating change, and more.
  • In partnership with a cross-functional group of People team colleagues, contribute to and implement a consistent performance management program across Stripe, taking into account local or regional requirements.
  • Develop a working understanding of legal and regulatory considerations and deeply understand Stripe’s HR policies to effectively support managers, leaders and Stripes
  • Advise and coach managers on Stripe’s People policies and best practices, in collaboration with People Partners, program leaders, and counsel as necessary
  • Partner with legal counsel and external consultants as needed to advise managers on complex or sensitive issues and to help ensure Stripe’s compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations (wage regulations, equal employment opportunity laws, etc.)
  • Enable and support managers to help ensure a frictionless roll out of People programs, including front line manager support for performance review cycles, compensation cycles, employee engagement surveys, top talent and adhoc programs
  • Identify and recommend scalable and efficient solutions to drive improvements in people processes, asking for input or buy-in from managers and leaders as needed
  • Ensure excellent employee experiences through key life cycle stages, including onboarding and departure processes
  • Analyze workforce or program data and present trends and insights to managers or HR partners; manage tracking and reporting of certain people data to inform team strategy
  • Lead with empathy and champion a culture of humility, optimism, belonging and inclusivity.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 4-8 years of HR experience, including at least 2 years in a client-facing HR role (e.g., HR generalist, HR Business Partner, Employee Relations partner), or equivalent experience in a business-facing role
  • Experience partnering directly with managers on performance management, manager coaching, employee relations, team health, and team culture
  • Experience supporting managers and leaders during the rollout of company-wide HR programs, such as annual performance reviews, promotions, compensation planning, talent reviews, training compliance, and more.
  • Experience interpreting and applying HR policy across a functionally and geographically distributed workforce
  • Working knowledge of employment legislation and practices across multiple countries in the EMEA region
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through success diagnosing problems using data, reasoning clearly and determining viable solutions, and remaining flexible in those solutions’ implementation
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast paced, growing environment, preferably in a technology company or large scale organization
  • Experience supporting frontline managers in both tech and non-tech functions
  • Experience facilitating or developing enablement materials, educational content, employee workshops, or team trainings
  • Experience with performance management overall, including but not limited to coaching, processes, data analysis, and prioritization
  • Project management skills, with an ability to design and execute clear processes while successfully engaging other stakeholders to deliver work on schedule
  • Proven ability to identify areas for improvement and escalate recurring themes to key decision makers when needed
  • Experience utilizing company policies and practices to determine appropriate recommendations or action

Hybrid work at Stripe

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €61,800 - €92,600. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
