Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

We are looking for an experienced Financial Crimes compliance professional to be a critical contributor to our APAC Financial Crimes and Supportability team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of policy and governance aspects of the financial crimes compliance program and play an instrumental role in helping to scale Stripe’s AML/CFT & Sanctions programs across multiple regulated entities in APAC.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a candidate who is eager to tackle challenging problems with a collaborative and solutions oriented approach. The successful candidate will be someone who can leverage their financial crimes subject matter knowledge to drive innovative solutions to mitigate financial crimes risk.

Stripe is both a technology company and a financial services company, and you will need to be comfortable straddling both of those worlds every day. The right person for the role will enjoy dealing with that puzzle, seeking creative solutions and moving quickly, often in the face of ambiguity.

Responsibilities

In your role as the APAC Financial Crimes Policy & Governance Advisor, reporting to the APAC Head of Financial Crimes and Supportability, you will:

  • Work with the regional MLROs on designing, building, and scaling a best in class FC&S program covering AML/CTF, Sanctions and Supportability matters across the region.
  • Act as the point of contact for policy matters and collaborate across the Global FC&S Team to ensure that the global framework supports regional requirements, and implement new, scalable regional enhancements as needed.
  • Consolidate APAC-wide requirements and provide a cohesive view across the diverse markets for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement the regional FC&S framework and registers, including drafting policies & procedures, and providing guidance in support of governance, product & market expansion, supportability, oversight and ongoing program enhancement.
  • Lead engagement on internal and external audits and assessments for the APAC region, and work with international stakeholders to ensure seamless preparation and timely remediation of any findings.
  • Support the development and delivery of program updates and emerging risk trends to the applicable Boards of Directors in APAC.
  • Provide strategic advice to the business teams on compliance with existing and upcoming regulatory requirements, including change management and potential product implications.
  • Support the team in building and maintaining Stripe’s relationships with regulators, financial partners, law enforcement, and industry bodies in APAC.

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum +7 years combined relevant financial crimes experience in payments, banking, financial regulators, law firms and/or audit firms, preferably in a policy advisor role.
  • Strong familiarity with relevant laws, regulations and industry trends for the APAC region across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written) and stakeholder management skills; and experience executing on complex initiatives cross functionally
  • Competent in interpreting legal guidance (with the support of the Legal team) into actionable guidance, and operational policies and systems-based solutions
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and provide high quality advice
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • An effective and relatable “culture of compliance” mentality.

Preferred qualifications

  • Payments or Fintech experience
  • Familiarity with card network rules
  • Familiarity with MacOS and Google products.
  • CAMS or CFE certification (or equivalent)
