About the team

The GTM Data team is dedicated to building and refining Stripe's data infrastructure, pipelines, and tools to support the Sales, Marketing, and Growth teams. By focusing on developing robust data foundations, the team enables these teams to forecast future performance, measure progress, and optimize their strategies. A key product owned by the team is Revenue Data Mart, which is a data system that enables the GTM business to understand their performance and attainment, ensuring that they are delivering the highest possible return on investment. The team is composed of Software Engineers with a focus on data, and are all based in North America.

What you’ll do

As a Staff Software Engineer in the GTM Data Mart Team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing robust data systems that enable and optimize Stripe’s Sales and Marketing functions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that elevate data quality and efficiency. Your work will directly contribute to realizing Stripe’s mission of expanding internet economic opportunities by building the infrastructure that powers our strategic growth efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain data systems, pipelines, models, and products that support Stripe’s Sales and Marketing efforts.
  • Engage with internal data platform and tools teams to prototype and validate solutions for deriving insights from large datasets or automating complex algorithms.
  • Make critical, well-informed decisions by integrating data best practices, system realities, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Scope, design, and implement robust solutions that balance resiliency, durability, performance, and data quality.
  • Mentor and develop other technical leaders, creating opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Contribute to engineering advancements that align with Stripe’s mission and vision.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in large-scale data warehouses, experimentation, personalization, or targeting platforms.
  • Proficiency in Scala, Python, Java, or another language suitable for building high-performance services.
  • Proven experience in planning and leading large projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with systems such as Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Iceberg, and Airflow.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL concepts, and patterns for efficient data governance.
  • Competence in back-end development of data-powered applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for clear articulation of end-users' problems.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with GTM business functions such as Growth, Sales, and Marketing
  • Experience working at large scale fintech organizations

Hybrid work at Stripe

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is C$208,000 - C$312,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
