About the team

The Finance Engineering (FinEng) team is at the core of Stripe, empowering mission-critical financial domains including Finance & Strategy, Accounting, Finance Operations, Treasury, and Tax. We are the custodians of Stripe's financial data, powering financial data warehousing technologies and financial automation technologies to ensure accounting books are closed on time and to build globally compliant financial statements. Additionally, we build platforms and infrastructure to support financial planning and forecasting, estimate delinquency, and automate Tax, Treasury, and Finance operations.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for people with a strong background or interest in building successful products and systems; you’re comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; you have exquisite attention to detail; and you’re comfortable learning new technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers to ship enterprise software solutions (ranging from frontend, to backend) that empower mission-critical domains 
  
• Develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers while also fostering a collaborative and high performance team culture
  
• Drive the roadmap, strategic direction and priorities for the team, and collaborate with other engineering teams across the company, to stay ahead of stakeholder’s ask throughout the breadth of the Finance Engineering organization.
  
• Guide the team in achieving a high level of engineering and operational excellence and stability
  
• Contribute to wider engineering initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering leadership team

Minimum requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience; 5+ years of engineering management experience
  
• Extreme customer focus, committed to investing in partnerships with other Stripe engineers to establish empathy and understand their use-cases
  
• A genuine enjoyment of learning and diving into the nuts-and-bolts of how things work, with the ability to question and direct architectural decisions
  
• The ability to work well cross-functionally, and the ability to think rigorously and make hard decisions and tradeoffs
  
• A strong quantitative and analytical background 
  
• The ability to thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
  
• The desire to encourage a healthy, inclusive work environment that’s both supportive and challenging
  
• Successfully recruited and built great teams
  

Preferred qualifications

• Experience managing teams of 6+ engineers
  
• 2+ years of cloud development experience
