Lovable turns to Stripe to accelerate its growth
SAN FRANCISCO AND DUBLIN — Stripe, the programmable financial services company, today announced that Lovable, the Sweden-based AI software creation platform, is expanding its use of Stripe to support its unprecedented growth. As well as using Stripe for payments and subscriptions, Lovable has adopted Stripe’s usage-based billing for its Lovable Cloud and Lovable AI offerings.
Lovable first used Stripe Billing right after launch to set up and manage simple subscriptions so it could monetize quickly. As the company grew, its billing needs evolved. Lovable launched two new services: Lovable Cloud, a full-stack platform for Lovable sites and apps, and Lovable AI, which lets customers easily add AI features to the applications they build. To monetize these services, Lovable expanded its use of Stripe Billing to introduce usage-based billing. Once customers hit free thresholds of those services in their subscription plans, Lovable uses Stripe Billing to charge customers precisely based on the number of AI tokens consumed. This lets Lovable match revenue directly to how customers use its products and align its business model with the underlying cost of running AI models. In the lead-up to its global launch, Lovable also used Stripe Atlas to quickly establish a US entity.
“We built Lovable so that the 99 percent of people who can’t code can turn ideas into working software. Stripe has been a partner from day one, powering seamless payments and billing globally for us and our fast- growing builder ecosystem. This lets our team stay laser-focused on scaling the impact that individuals and major enterprises get with our platform,” said Anton Osika, Lovable’s CEO and cofounder.
Lovable also uses Stripe to accept payments from customers in more than 150 countries across more than 125 local payment methods. Stripe uses AI to decide which payment methods to show for each transaction to maximize conversion while providing a smooth checkout experience to Lovable’s customers. And with Link, Stripe’s consumer wallet used by over 200 million consumers globally, Lovable customers can check out with their preferred payment method quickly and easily. 58% of Lovable’s payment volume is now driven by Link.
Stripe is building the economic infrastructure for AI. Usage-based billing is the native business model for the AI era, and Stripe Billing is used by companies including Cerebras, Hex, Retell AI, Intercom, and Browserbase for usage-based monetization. To extend Stripe Billing's capabilities to better serve the fastest growing startups, the biggest AI labs and the most complex enterprise businesses, Stripe also recently acquired Metronome, the leader in orchestrating billing for the most complex usage-based models. Metronome is used by top AI companies as well as platform-as-a-service providers including Confluent and Snowflake.
