Runpod, a cloud platform that provides on-demand GPU access for AI compute, has scaled to more than $120 million in annual recurring revenue since launching on Stripe in 2022. Based in San Francisco, the company built its payments infrastructure on Stripe, freeing its team to focus on growth rather than payment operations.
Runpod makes GPU compute more accessible by connecting data centers that have extra capacity with enterprises that need compute for AI applications. Users select underlying servers based on their compute requirements and transparent pricing, and Runpod bills them by the second on a pay-as-you-go basis. Stripe Connect automates compliance, reconciliation, and fund splitting across this marketplace.
“When you’re scaling as fast as we are, every point of friction in the payment flow is a growth bottleneck. We needed a partner that could keep up, not one we’d have to work around,” said Greg Wester, principal product manager at Runpod.
A fast, flexible checkout
Through its Connect integration, Runpod gained access to payment processing with Stripe Payments and Stripe’s Optimized Checkout Suite, a collection of prebuilt payment UIs, to improve its checkout flow. With Stripe Checkout, a prebuilt hosted payment page, and the embeddable Stripe Payment Element, Runpod quickly enabled credit cards and ACH debit. The company also added Link, a digital wallet built by Stripe, which now represents 26% of transactions on the platform.
“Our users are deploying GPU workloads in under a minute. The checkout experience needs to match that speed. Stripe’s prebuilt tools let us get there without diverting engineering resources from the product,” said Wester.
Maximizing payment success
To maximize revenue and reduce failed payments, Runpod adopted Stripe Authorization Boost, a bundle of Stripe’s AI-powered acceptance optimizations. This includes card account updater, which automatically updates details for expired cards; Adaptive Acceptance, which uses AI to identify and retry false declines; and network tokens, which replace a card’s primary account number with a unique, secure identifier. In the 12 months prior to February 28, 2026, Authorization Boost helped Runpod maintain a 95.5% payment success rate.
Runpod also adopted Stripe Radar for Fraud Teams to combat fraudulent transactions and reduce chargebacks. With Radar for fraud detection and automatic fingerprinting from Stripe, Runpod thwarts chargebacks on both credit cards and marketing promotion redemptions.
With a scalable payments infrastructure in place, Runpod is well positioned to continue expanding its GPU cloud marketplace and serving the growing demand for AI compute.
Runpod has ridden a tailwind of growth, and our product execution has accelerated us to a revenue run rate of $120 million in 3 years. Stripe has been the payments backbone through all of it, for consumer and enterprise payments. We never had to rip and replace, never had to negotiate a migration. The platform just scaled with us.
