An integrated way to accept payments
Small businesses represent 99% of UK businesses and are the cornerstone of the economy. As customer expectations and ways of doing business continue to evolve, Lloyds saw an opportunity to help small businesses access flexible, integrated tools to support growth and improve efficiency.
Lloyds Accept launched in June 2026 as a robust suite of financial tools Lloyds developed in partnership with Stripe. Available through the Lloyds Business Banking app and browser experience, Lloyds Accept gives small businesses an integrated way to accept payments wherever they do business.
A supercharged platform for payments and business banking
The Lloyds team knew they needed a powerful, reliable, enterprise-grade solution. They also wanted technology that could easily be integrated into Lloyds’ existing digital infrastructure to provide an intuitive, convenient payment experience for businesses and consumers alike. To achieve both goals, Lloyds collaborated with Stripe to build Lloyds Accept on Stripe Connect, which powers embedded payments for some of the world’s largest marketplaces and platforms.
In addition to automating the flow of payments from the app to the merchants’ bank account, Connect offers a streamlined onboarding experience, helping new Lloyds Accept customers begin accepting payments in minutes.
With Connect acting as the backbone of Lloyds Accept, the bank introduced a range of new payment tools designed to help small businesses grow revenue and enhance the customer experience. The Lloyds Accept app supports Tap to Pay, a contactless payment acceptance solution powered by Stripe Terminal. It takes just minutes to set up Tap to Pay, enabling businesses to accept in-person, contactless payments using just their smartphone. Lloyds Accept also allows small businesses to accept in person transactions using Stripe’s S710 and BBPOS WisePad 3 touchscreen devices.
Lloyds brought together its customer insight, banking expertise, and operational requirements with Stripe’s professional services team and Happy Cog, a Stripe Specialized Partner that contributed expertise in financial services and regulated industries. Together, the teams accelerated delivery, supported onboarding, and created comprehensive operational and support guides for a smooth launch.
Positioning Lloyds—and its small business customers—for success in the digital age
The launch of Lloyds Accept gives the bank’s more than 1 million business customers access to
payments infrastructure comparable to that used by some of the world's largest companies—delivered through a simple, streamlined app interface and browser experience. Businesses can quickly open an account and begin offering payment options that match their customers’ evolving preferences—driving growth for those businesses and for the UK economy as a whole.
“I found Lloyds Accept very simple. It means that my client doesn't have to worry about chasing to pay or me chasing the clients to get payment — and the client can pay instantly. It makes a very uncomfortable situation very comfortable,” said Louchavan Lemard, cofounder and company director of PH247.
Likewise, Lloyds Accept gives the bank a platform for additional services and revenue growth in the future, thanks to the alignment between a 261-year-old banking institution and leading provider of financial infrastructure for the internet. “We’re providing meaningful service to our business customers, and this only scratches the surface of where we think we could go with the partnership,” said Thomasson.
Small businesses and entrepreneurs are truly the backbone of the economy, and together with Stripe we’re providing them with new tools to power their growth through Lloyds Accept.
