Finishers, headquartered in Lyon, France, has grown into a leader in the endurance sports world, offering athletes a searchable calendar of worldwide races while supporting organisers with registration, payment collection and post-race photo sales. In early 2026, Finishers enhanced its offerings by launching a secure bib resale marketplace powered by Stripe Global Payouts.

As popular races sell out quickly, unofficial bib resales have become increasingly common. Athletes who can no longer take part because of an injury, a change in plans or another personal reason may want to transfer their place to another runner rather than forfeit their entry fee. These exchanges often take place on social media or unofficial swap sites, which exposes athletes to the risk of fraud and makes it difficult for race organisers to track who is showing up at races. The new marketplace solves this problem by providing a secure, integrated space for resales, with money transfers powered by Stripe. Athletes have responded: the new marketplace has processed the resale of 9,000 bibs, totalling €500,000 in its first six months.

"Athletes and race organisers needed a more secure and reliable way to manage bib resales. Stripe helped us simplify the process of getting payments to bib sellers to ensure that the entire bib transfer process is completed automatically, and in just a few clicks," said Benoit Grassigny, Finishers co-founder.

Bringing the secondary bib market under organiser control

The Finishers marketplace gives organisers a secure environment to offer approved bib resales. Athletes buy the bib using their preferred local payment method, and the payment is processed through Stripe Payments directly into the seller's Finishers account. Then, Finishers distributes the proceeds to the bib seller's bank account using Global Payouts.

With elements, Finishers easily built a secure, on-brand payment form for the resale marketplace. "Compared with the overall project, the time spent on the Stripe integration was very minimal," said Arnaud Didry, Finishers CTO. "This allowed us to focus our time and energy on what really mattered: the business logic and the core functionality of our resale platform."

Scalable financial infrastructure for a fast-moving company

The launch of the resale marketplace builds on Finishers's broader Stripe integration, which powers payments across its platform for race organisers and athletes.

Finishers's race registration service runs on Stripe Connect and Payments, helping the company offer local payment methods preferred by its global pool of athletes, such as SEPA Direct Debit. Authorisation Boost and Stripe Radar help Finishers ensure more legitimate payments get through while combating fraud. Together, these capabilities have supported a 39% year-over-year increase in payment volume.
