Engineering Manager, Review Platform San Francisco

Build the platform that empowers Stripe to launch new international markets and new products with ease

To enable Stripe’s mission of growing the online economy, the Merchant Intelligence engineering group protects Stripe and our users from loss risks (credit + fraud) and financial crimes. To do this, we work on everything from backend infrastructure to ML systems to product experiences. Crucial to this effort is our close collaboration with the operational teams of analysts and strategists who manually review complex cases. The Review Platform team builds the tools and interfaces that empower these operational teams and create the symbiosis between automated systems and human review. The team works on the backend and frontend to build product experiences and workflows.

We’re looking for a manager to lead this team as it scales rapidly in the coming months to support Stripe’s global expansion and the increased complexity of the ecosystem that we review.

You will:

  • Work with engineers, risk specialists, data scientists, and other leaders to build world-class investigation and underwriting tools for Stripe’s internal use.
  • Support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical quality, reliability, and ease-of-use
  • Manage processes to help the team do its best work and work effectively with the rest of Stripe
  • Recruit great engineers, in collaboration with Stripe’s recruiting team
  • Develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team
