About the team

Our Payments team powers Stripe’s platform for core business. We’re solving a very hard problem: making global money movement simple and programmable. We accept, manage, and payout money across countries, currencies, and payment methods. Millions of businesses, from startups to Fortune 100, expect Stripe to be reliable, fast, secure, and effortlessly work at scale. We handle (many, many) billions of dollars every year.

What you’ll do

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in the Payments Platform team, you will play a key role within engineering and drive programs that span across the organization. You will be responsible for the successful definition, cross-functional strategy, planning and execution of large-scale technical programs that help to solve complex problems.


  • Define long-term vision, and multi-year strategy for company-wide programs collaborating with product management and engineering leadership/executives. 
  • Drive program execution using comprehensive and effective operating models with consistent communication and proactive risk management.
  • Collaborate across organizations and with senior leadership/executives to drive customer-focused and business impacting outcomes.
  • Define system architecture/design in collaboration with engineers and engineering leaders

Who you are

A successful Technical Program Manager has experience leading large-scale projects spanning engineering and operations, is able to distill complexity into clarity, and drives impact and velocity across teams. They are curious, driven, focused, and detail-oriented, able to influence without authority, relentless in driving to closure, and able to build strong relationships. They thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. They are strategic, able to see the big picture and business context, and able to find creative solutions as a result.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering, platform engineering or technical product/program management experience
  • You are not satisfied with just delivering a program on time—you are discerning about product/infrastructure architecture and obsessed with quality, reliability & correctness
  • You have a track record of providing program management during all phases of software development from kick-off to ship, demonstrating critical thinking and thought leadership
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills, building strong relationships with stakeholders and teams around the organization
  • You can drive and scale internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions
  • Experience operating autonomously and leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale platforms, infrastructure  and organizations
  • Experience leading initiatives with a global footprint having built APIs, products, and complex systems/infrastructure at scale

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working on at-scale financial platforms/software/services
  • Ability to thrive and work effectively in an ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment
