Stripe’s Finance Systems team is responsible for enabling our core accounting, tax, treasury, and strategic planning & analysis functions by delivering the information and tools needed to scale their capabilities as the company continues to grow. The Technical Program Manager role on the team is generally responsible for analyzing processes to determine capability needs, developing requirements and breaking them down into actionable work, engaging with stakeholders to foster a common understanding, and driving projects to completion. The ideal Accounting Automation TPM is a strong tactician with working functional knowledge of accounting and technical systems depth to address scaling opportunities.

You will:

  • Enable our accounting stakeholders, by -
    • Gaining depth in our operational accounting processes, identifying opportunities for new systems capabilities, gaps, and process improvement, with a heavy focus on automation in a controls-based environment
    • Owning requirements gathering and work breakdown, with emphasis on rigorous functional and controls requirements
    • Driving and managing the delivery of an accounting automation platform
    • Owning the effective communication of needs between Accounting and Engineering, in both directions
  • Scope capability needs that are -
    • Usable, timely, and suitable to accounting’s use cases
    • Well-socialized and documented
    • Achievable from a business and engineering standpoint
  • Effectively partner with Engineering to -
    • Communicate and socialize requirements
    • Drive work to completion by unblocking any informational or understanding gaps between stakeholders

You’d ideally have:

  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Program Manager, Product Manager, or Business Systems Analyst, with prior success delivering automated accounting solutions
  • Working knowledge of functional accounting processes and principles
  • Critical thinking, analysis, and a curiosity to dig deeper into requests to determine needs
  • The ability and desire to question the status quo
  • Effective project planning, management and communication skills

Nice to haves:

  • A background in a process improvement methodology
  • Data literacy & SQL
