About the team

Stripe’s mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. The promise of
crypto—digital money and a new internet—is squarely aligned with that
mission, and the Stripe Crypto team is dedicated to doing our part in
bringing that promise to life. Our approach is firmly rooted in
providing utility to the crypto ecosystem: our users need better
building blocks to accept payments, move funds, and exchange between
fiat and crypto. By focusing on these problems, we aim to build faster,
more trustworthy, and higher quality crypto-native experiences.

We’re a fairly new and exceptionally fast-moving team within Stripe,
having shipped multiple products in the past 12 months. In the next 12
months, we will bring those products to scale while also pursuing new
ones. We’re looking for engineers with prior experience in the
cryptocurrency space who are invigorated by the opportunity to bring
their existing expertise to benefit Stripe’s users. As a Staff Engineer
on the team, you will lead our efforts to scale Stripe’s existing crypto
products, as well as take new experiences in development from 0 to 1.

What you’ll do

  • Participate in the evolution of Stripe’s crypto strategy.
  • Identify and resolve long-term technical challenges across a broad
range of areas, from blockchain to data storage services, from API
    design to user experience.
  • Advise Stripe leadership on key technology and product roadmap
  • Develop and execute against both short- and long-term roadmaps. Make
effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user
experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
  • Teach and mentor both individual contributors and managers to become
the next generation of leaders at Stripe. As a senior member on a new
team, you will be looked to for guidance.

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be
considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are
encouraged to apply.

  • Have experience developing in the cryptocurrency space in prior roles,
demonstrated by a deep understanding of core cryptocurrency and web3
  • Have a history of collaborating with and participating in the
    cryptocurrency and web3 communities.
  • Have a strong technical background including 8+ years of experience
    designing and engineering large-scale systems.
  • Have a track record of directing technical investment in new products,
allowing them to grow from fledgling efforts into thriving businesses.
  • Have served as the technical lead and defined the roadmap for complex
projects spanning multiple teams and functions.
  • Measure your success in terms of business impact, not lines of code.
  • Internalize the best ideas from across the organization and can humbly
set a vision that others are excited to get behind.
  • Work well cross-functionally and earn trust from co-workers at all
levels. You are often cited as the inspiration for engineers that join

feel they are able to learn from you.
