Partner Solutions Engineer, Global Partnerships

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Partner Engineering & Operations team is part of our Global Partnerships organization, and is responsible for owning the technical and operational aspects of new and existing strategic product partnerships and programs. We sit at the intersection of product, engineering and partnerships, serving as the fabric that ensures close and smooth collaboration between these parties. This includes defining new and managing existing technical partnerships for Stripe products (examples: Stripe Payments, Stripe Tax, Stripe Billing) and expanding our ecosystem through platforms such as Stripe Apps. Partner Solutions Engineers (PSE) are domain experts aligned to specific Stripe products focused on technical scoping of new partner opportunities and recruiting new partners to adopt the latest Stripe platforms and products. We have in-depth knowledge of specific partner solution offerings and understanding of the partner’s technical ecosystem.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will work hand-in-hand with Partner Development Managers and Product Managers to scope complex product partner opportunities and deploy new Stripe products to partners while providing critical insights to our product and engineering teams to influence the product roadmap. You will develop deep relationships with senior technical leaders of our new and existing partners. As subject matter experts of Stripe products, you will scale the broader partner organization by delivering trainings, creating reusable tools and processes, and coaching others on complex high-value partner opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and technically scope new partner opportunities and negotiate technical aspects of new business opportunities
  • Develop proof of concepts, developer recommendations and best practices to convince partners to adopt Stripe products
  • Act as an expert on Stripe’s products (e.g. Payments, Billing, Tax) to partners to accelerate product roadmaps and directly drive revenue through partners
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Stripe partner ecosystem, the competitive landscape, and advise on elegant technical solutions
  • Create and share best practices and reusable processes and tools, such as reference architectures to enhance the quality and efficiency of the partner organizations
  • Embed with core Product and Engineering to serve as a “Voice of the Partner” to drive product roadmap and feature request prioritization
  • Act as an escalation point to drive our most complex technical issues to resolution with Stripe’s engineering team
  • Represent the technical health of partnerships overall on quarterly business reviews and highlight any blockers to broader Stripe product adoption

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of working in a similar partner-facing role (e.g. developer advocate, partner engineer, technical solutions engineer or solutions architect)
  • Strong knowledge of architecture patterns, and understand how a wide variety of technologies interact with each other
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, confident explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Passion for learning about current and emerging technologies to develop innovative solutions for open ended business problems.
  • Proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners.
  • Ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with online, in-person payments, complex subscription models or common CRM / ERP systems
  • Experience with web development, mobile development, device platforms & architectures, integration concepts and workflows
  • Has experience integrating Stripe or other RESTful APIs into web applications with an adept sense for both user and developer experience
  • Experience in systems design, building and deploying complex applications
  • Experience as a subject matter expert in a relevant industry, vertical or product
  • Experience enabling and scaling a partnerships team or program
  • Degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree or experience in software engineering or product management

Hybrid work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $198,200 - $297,400. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
