Our tax team works with Stripes across the company to support the growth strategy and objectives of our global business as well as develop an efficient tax structure. We are looking for a well-rounded tax professional to help support Mergers & Acquisitions at Stripe.

This role will be responsible for supporting all tax aspects of M&A transactions, including coordinating deal diligence through post-acquisition integration efforts. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and should be able to work well with cross-functional teams as well as explain tax technical concepts in ways that are meaningful to non-tax professionals. The candidate will be able to work with a high level of collegiality in a fast paced environment, while collaborating with numerous functional teams across our organization. The position will be based in San Francisco or Seattle and will report to the M&A and Global Expansion Tax Lead.

You will: 

  • Act as a tax point of contact for acquisitions, dispositions, corporate restructurings, and investments, including due diligence, negotiation, structuring and post-close integration
  • Support coordination across Stripe cross-functional M&A teams, including corporate development, legal, accounting, finance, people, and business teams to advise on tax matters and achieve complex project objectives
  • Analyze and document domestic and international tax issues related to transaction planning, including coordination with external advisors
  • Prepare and / or support financial modeling and presentations of tax impacts related to transactional planning
  • Coordinate with other members of the taxsquad to provide technical analysis related to transactions
  • Help develop and execute an organizational framework or processes to help the taxsquad manage all aspects of M&A projects from diligence to integration and compliance

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 5-7 years of relevant tax experience working at an accounting or law firm, or multi-national company
  • A strong background in corporate income tax, including domestic and international tax (knowledge of indirect, state and local tax concepts is a bonus)
  • Significant experience working on M&A and restructuring transactions
  • Strong writing and tax research skills
  • Experience leading tax workstreams across cross-functional projects and transactions 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical tax issues clearly to non-tax team members 
  • Strong prioritization, multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Empathy, humility, and some comedy

Nice to haves:

  • An advanced degree or professional qualification in tax or law
  • Experience working in a high-growth, rapidly scaling environment
  • Industry experience at a multinational organization
  • Experience working in technology, payments, or financial services
