Head of Product Management, Global Risk Management

As Stripe continues to develop innovative products that serve large populations of businesses around the world, risk will increase in scale and complexity. To scale sustainably, Stripe must build risk considerations into its growing suite of products. Meshing risk management with product development will facilitate the optimal trade-offs between downside risk and user experience. We strive for a fully risk-ready suite of products: that provide a curated experience for well-intended users, while remaining inhospitable for bad actors, and will allow Stripe as a whole to be in control of its desired exposure to risk.
Risk & Compliance Product Management team is accountable for the health and composability of Stripe’s “Risk Platform”, that is the broad sets of technical components that collectively form a gearbox between Stripe’s products, on the one hand, and its technical and operational risk management arm on the other. A successful Risk Platform will also allow for the consistent propagation of company’s overall risk appetite across products and geographies.
This team will have a direct impact on the objectives of Stripe’s Risk Management function overall: - building alignment on the dimensions along which products’ risks are monitored - supporting a rich and composable Risk Platform that user facing product teams want to integrate with and that maximises the experience of well-intended users - delivering the technical means for risk business outcome teams - allowing portfolio-wide, cross-product risk management “dials” for the company to more deliberately control its exposure to risk
We are looking for an insightful and visionary leader to build and lead a brand new team. This individual will be expected to build a team that can manage the Global portfolio. Be one of the leaders of the product management function at Stripe, responsible for improving the effectiveness and impact of that organization as a whole. At Stripe, product development is an extremely collaborative effort between engineering, design, analytics and user-facing teams. You’d be joining a group of experienced Product Managers who have a track record of successfully building large-scale business and consumer products that are collectively impacting millions of users around the world.
We’re looking for someone who has
Product obsession and Vision - Is excited to do hands-on Product Manager work while the team scales - Has delivered excellent products in a high-complexity business environment - Has taken a product area from 0->1, defining the vision and roadmap based on user needs and executing against that vision to produce impact - Has owned business metrics for an at-scale product
Tech and Data - Has led the development of data-intensive or ML-based products - Has technical experience, e.g. research in math/science, data-scientist, engineer, technical founder, etc. - Prior experience - Expertise with b2b and enterprise products - Experience with Payments/Risk/etc
Management - Has managed and developed a team of world-class product managers - Has built teams through external recruiting
Leadership - Has experience working with the executive team. This role will require working closely with Stripe executives and the board on company core metrics and business strategy
