Global Employee Relations Lead

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions
of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious
startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and
accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the
GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That
means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy
within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your
career.

About the team

Employee Relations is a relatively new center of excellence here at
Stripe. We are striving to build a respectful, balanced, well-skilled
team focused on enabling the People team, managers, and ICs to navigate
challenging career moments while balancing compliance, empathy, and
risk, resulting in success and engagement for all. We believe that the
ER function at Stripe can also take on a broader remit with the
organization and are looking for someone who is interested and able to
expand the function to include additional areas such as crisis
management, and drive proactive initiatives to help us build strong,
healthy organizations that fully live our operating principles.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Head of Global Employee Relations to lead our
growing Employee Relations team. This role is a new addition to the team
and we are looking to bring in a leader that can bring both deep
expertise and a propensity for innovation to help build an ER function
for Stripe. You will have deep subject matter expertise in ER and HR,
but also will bring strong business acumen, creative problem solving
skills, and the ability to co-create a function that is designed for
Stripe. The Employee Relations team will be a highly cross-functional
and collaborative organization that works with all of Stripe.

Responsibilities

  • Build an overarching, forward-looking global ER strategy, ensuring
alignment to Stripe’s business strategy and the People & Places
strategy. Ensure we are reacting to employee concerns, building the
right culture, and responding to employee concerns with respect,
    empathy, and care
  • Lead and manage a team of global ER Partners delivering best-in-class
    ER practices
  • Partner with the People & Places leadership team to define the ER
function and enable other parts of the organization (Global Benefits,
People Partners, etc) to successfully execute on their goals
  • Establish, guide, and consult on the development of the appropriate
policies, practices, and norms needed to maintain our code of conduct,
talent philosophy, and live our operating principles
  • Advise on org wide enablement needed to educate Stripes, managers and
leaders, and partner with our People Development and Programs teams to
integrate learning and education and/or supplement with focused
    content
  • Guide and support the teams (ER and People Partners) focused on case
    management, including investigations, performance management,
accommodations, etc. Continue to support the development of our
    policies and practices
  • Build out a right-sized crisis management function, to ensure we are
partnering across Stripe to be prepared and able to respond to fast
    moving situations
  • Provide counsel and guidance to our senior leadership team, leveraging
data and proactive problem solving to ensure Stripe can achieve its
    commitment to users and Stripes
  • Ensure we are being data driven and using insights to steer
decision-making and drive actionable insights in the ER and DEIB
spaces, but also connect dots to broader initiatives

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be
considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are
encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a
requirement.

  • A background of at least 15+ years experience in Human Resources,

  • Experience partnering and influencing senior leaders to help drive
their people strategy and increase business results
  • Experience and a point of view on what a great ER delivery model and
    organization should look like
  • Strong analytical and project management skills, proven ability to
design clear processes, and a very detail-oriented yet flexible
    approach to problem solving

Preferred qualifications

  • JD, MBA, or other Advanced Degree
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical client groups
and a deep understanding of the challenges within each group

    levels and geographies
  • Proven ability to partner and influence across diverse groups and
    experience levels
  • Demonstrated experience in taking things from “scrappy” to “scaled” in
a high growth, fast paced environment
  • Excellent management and collaboration skills to get work done through
others in a global, complex environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
