Stripe offers a variety of ways for developers to accept payments on the web: Checkout, Stripe.js, Elements, Hosted Invoice Pages, and more. All of these experiences share a common codebase, tests, deploy systems, and other tooling. Our payments products need to be tested and optimized to be in the critical path of millions of online businesses while allowing Stripe’s product teams to ship new features quickly. That’s where frontend platform engineering will come in.

This team empowers developers that work on Stripe’s payments UI by providing state of the art developer tooling, testing frameworks, deployment systems, and other platform components to ensure security and reliability. While the customers of the team are internal, you’ll see every day how your work enables tools that businesses all around the world trust to handle their money.

You might work on:

  • Integrating with Stripe-wide deployment and build systems to keep things running smoothly
  • Implementing state-of-the art cross browser testing to ensure our payments experiences work every time, for every user
  • Creating systems that enable many teams around the world to collaborate on one UI surface while keeping 100% cohesion
  • Bringing in tools to improve JavaScript performance and reduce bundle size
  • Automatically enforcing standards around accessibility and internationalization

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience developing and running build, test, and deployment tools in production environments
  • Experience working with JavaScript developer tools and their quirks
  • Empathy, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to work effectively with a team
  • A desire to sweat the details around security, reliability, accessibility, and internationalization
  • A desire to solve the needs of your colleagues as part of a platform team
  • A sense for how to hit the optimal balance between rigor and velocity
  • An appreciation for the importance of good documentation – internal and external
