Can you tell us more about your journey from working for several fintech startups to joining Wix, and what’s kept you interested in the fintech industry?

The monetary system is the undercurrent that moves everything and it’s constantly evolving. Over the last 10–15 years, we’ve seen the responsibility of moving money shift from banks to fintech platforms with technology operating in the middle. I wanted to be a part of this ongoing evolution and have a massive stake in shaping the user experience – which is why I joined Wix.

What has been your proudest accomplishment since joining Wix?

Launching and growing the team behind Wix Payments, Wix’s very own payment platform, from a pilot of 10 people to a global team. Our driving force is to continue improving Wix Payments so more merchants can manage orders and payments in one place as opposed to many. We’re proud that so many of our users are turning to Wix Payments to power their business.

What is your team focused on these days?

We’re working hard to solve any friction our users are experiencing in their business. Some need support in managing business online, while others find financial processes daunting or cumbersome. We do the heavy lifting so entrepreneurs can focus on what they do best: running their businesses.

In what ways has Wix’s customer base changed since the company’s founding in 2006?

Websites have become much more interactive and transactional. In 2006, a website was maybe a page with some images and text. Now you can use it to sell products, communicate with your customers in real time, manage mailing lists, and so much more. However, all of this requires tools that map to the needs of each business.

As a result, Wix has expanded to include a wide range of commerce and business tools that maximise search engine optimisation, sell goods and services, facilitate deliveries, and go beyond a simple website. These tools are one reason why Wix has grown to support self-creators, small businesses, agencies, and enterprises in many different verticals including retail, restaurants, fitness, and more.

How do you think Wix’s platform will continue to evolve?

Wix is becoming the primary platform for online presences around the world. Our goal is 50% of the internet having been built on Wix, and for that to happen, the platform must constantly evolve with industry trends and users’ needs. For example, in 2022 we launched our new Wix Editor, which simplifies complex design capabilities and enables our users to easily turn their web creation visions into realities by providing a unique website-creation experience. It’s just one example of us removing barriers that complicate growing and managing a business online.

How is Wix helping deliver seamless transactions from start to finish?

The trend of personalising the buyer’s journey has been growing for several years. Businesses are pairing the buyer’s checkout with a personalised payment sequence. Consumers expect to have multiple payment methods to choose from at checkout, whether it’s buy now, pay later or Apple Pay, and we’re continuing to work to deliver a more seamless payment experience for everyone.

Additionally, one of the most sensitive touchpoints is the actual payment because you’re asking people to share their credit card information, shipping address, and more. We’ve built a checkout with our partners to ensure the highest level of security and convenience.

How do you see small businesses on WIx taking advantage of your platform?

Broadly, small businesses are taking advantage of running their operations in a more accessible way on the internet. What once required many resources, or was only accessible to large enterprises, is now readily available en masse. Because of this trend, entrepreneurship and side gigs have become commonplace for many people.

For example, Wix enables small businesses to create their own branded app, which was once a costly endeavour. A branded app opens an entirely new medium and provides another way to connect with customers. Using Wix’s App Builder, small business owners are able to build their own DIY mobile apps (for iOS and Android) to enhance their customers' experience. Wix customers have complete ownership of their app, meaning they can overlay their logos and branding while taking advantage of built-in Wix features like stores, bookings, forums, and more. It’s another way for businesses to connect with their customers no matter where or how they’re browsing.

How is Stripe helping businesses on Wix?

Stripe enables us to offer unique payment experiences for our users. For example, the combination of Stripe Terminal and Wix Payments facilitates secure payments in-person and online including contactless cards, chips, and digital wallets.

On the global front, Stripe helps Wix users to sell in multiple currencies and settle in the localised currency or currency of the request. This allows Wix users to reach a wider audience and conduct business more efficiently.

As a result, we can offer our users the ability to build sales channels to their stores and ultimately increase their revenues.
