Alternative ways to integrate Link

Authenticate with Link in the Payment Element.

You can accept payments with Link using information your customer stores in the Link app. When you receive a payment from a customer using Link in the Payment Element, the payment_method.type listed for the payment is link.

Link authenticates customer accounts using the account’s email address. We recommend integrating with the Link Authentication Element to maximize conversion uplift with Link. However, you can also accept payments with Link using alternative integrations.

Link authentication in the Payment Element

If the Link Authentication Element isn’t mounted on your checkout page with the Payment Element, you can enable Link payments by including Link authentication directly in the Payment Element.

Link authentication in the Payment Element allows you to collect your customer’s email addresses directly in the Payment Element with no additional integration work required.

In this flow, you can use the Payment Element to collect your customer’s email address, authenticate with Link, and autofill their payment information all within a single Element.
