Managing cards on your accountInvite only

Set user roles and permissions, report unauthorized transactions, freeze or replace cards, and investigate unexpected declines.

    Setting user roles and permissions

As you invite additional cardholders to your Stripe Corporate Card account, you may want to change their roles. Stripe Corporate Card roles can be set using the same link for updating for other user roles associated with your account on Stripe’s payment processing platform via team settings.

Stripe Corporate Card currently offers three levels of role access:

    1. Administrator:
      • An administrator has the same level of access as the account owner and can view API keys, change Stripe account settings, and invite new Stripe Corporate Card users. Administrators cannot delete or make changes to the Stripe account owner. Administrators can connect the Stripe account to Connect platforms.
      • An administrator will have full access to Stripe Corporate Card dashboard and statements/data.
      • Common Administrator roles: business owners, finance team.
    2. Analyst
      • An analyst will have view-only access to Stripe Corporate Card dashboard data and the ability to download related reports.
      • An analyst cannot access any account settings or view API keys. They also cannot make changes to Stripe Radar settings.
      • Common Analyst roles: bookkeepers, accountants.
    3. Cardholder
      • This is the default role for new users invited to Stripe Corporate Card.
      • A cardholder will have access to their personal Stripe Corporate Card information only, and can’t view company-wide Stripe Corporate Card data or reports.
      • This is the most common role for Stripe Corporate Card users to choose for employee cardholders.

    Reporting an unauthorized transaction

    Via the dashboard:

    1. Navigate to the Transactions page on your Stripe Corporate Card dashboard.
    2. Click on the transaction you’d like to mark as unauthorized.
    3. Click the ... button in the upper right corner of the display panel.
    4. Select Report as unauthorized.
    5. Click Next.
    6. Provide additional information as requested and whether or not you’d like to freeze the Stripe Corporate Card associated with the unauthorized transaction.
    7. Click Report to submit.

    Via SMS:

    1. When you receive a transaction notification via SMS, you can mark the transaction as unauthorized by simply replying to the text.
    2. Reply REPORT to the SMS.
    3. You may also respond with FREEZE <last 4 digits of card> to the SMS to freeze the card.

Reporting a lost or stolen card

If your Stripe Corporate Card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can let us know by reporting it directly in the dashboard:

    1. From the Stripe Corporate Card dashboard, click on the ... button on the bottom right of the Card display panel.
    2. Select Replace Card… and a reason for requesting a card replacement.
    3. Click Replace Card to confirm and a replacement card will be shipped to you.

Once a card is reported as lost or stolen, it will be canceled. Currently, only cardholders can mark their own cards as lost or stolen.

In some cases, you may want to temporarily freeze your individual Stripe Corporate Card rather than reporting it as lost or stolen.

    To freeze an active card:

    1. From the Stripe Corporate Card dashboard, click on the ... button on the bottom right of the Card display panel.
    2. Select Freeze… and click Freeze again to confirm.

When your card is frozen, all transactions on the card will be declined. You can freeze and unfreeze a Stripe Corporate Card at any time.

    To unfreeze a frozen card:

    1. From the Stripe Corporate Card dashboard , click on the ... button on the bottom right of the Card display panel.
    2. Select Unfreeze and click Unfreeze again to confirm.

Freezing a card as an administrator

Currently, only cardholders can mark their own cards as lost or stolen. However, as an account administrator, you can freeze any card on your account.

If you are an administrator and would like to freeze a card on your account:

    1. Navigate to the cardholder whose card you would like to freeze from the Cards section of the Stripe Corporate Card dashboard.
    2. On the Cards display panel, click on the ... button to the right of the card you would like to freeze
    3. Select Freeze… and click Freeze again to confirm.

    Investigating a declined transaction

If you encounter an unexpected decline, we suggest you check your card settings for the following common causes. You should also receive an SMS with the reason for each declined transaction.

    • Spending limits: Check the monthly spending limit and blocked category settings for the card.
    • Credit limits: Transactions will not be authorized if they would bring your Stripe Corporate Card balance higher than your current credit limit.
    • Frozen cards: When a Stripe Corporate Card is frozen, all subsequent purchase authorizations on that card will automatically be declined. You can unfreeze a Stripe Corporate Card at any time through your Stripe Corporate Card dashboard.
